Peter Marsh's latest album has now been released.
Initial writing and pre-production for Back to the Beginning took place in rural France.
Pete then headed to London to collaborate with renowned engineer and producer Roger Béchirian (The Undertones, Elvis Costello, Bell X1, Squeeze, Tom McRae), at Brightside Studios.
The ten songs that resulted offer slivers of magic and moments of sublime comfort,
... an album of love and loss, optimism and progression that evokes a diverse range of musical genres
- from funk rock 'Lucky Man', soul 'Shoulder to Cry On', acoustic 'Fly Away' to the jazz blues feel of title track 'Back to the Beginning'.
At a first listen, both lyrics and melodies might sound deceptively simple, but pay it some attention, let the sonic construction and rhythmic invention get under your skin.
In an era of accelerated pop career burnouts and X-factor celebrity, 'Back To The Beginning' harks back to a time when craft and emotion meant so much more.
It's an album that can’t fail to appeal, both musically and lyrically, to a broad audience.
